Ways to be successful
Being successful of something means being able to transform yourself into a new form of you. If you want to have your legacy spread from generations to generations for the next hundreds of year, then you must concentrate on what you have become, what you really want to become, what and how your personalities are, are you a person of your OWN words and thoughts?, what kind of wisdom is in you?, do you practise the wisdom?....etc. People will remember most on your beings and becomings than what you actually have or get.
Pitfall prevention:
Think of what you want to become first. Don't set what you want to have or get as your first priority.
The reason is, If you think of what type of person you want to be, then what your NEED will automatically ensue you. Also importantly, in order to 'maintain' the person you want to be for a long time, you will have to appreciate the NEEDS (that ensue) because they are imperative to your success.
In another way around, thinking of what you want to have AT THE FIRST PLACE does not lead to what you want to become. You can't get to your dream (success) in such a way. Rather, you are just distracting yourself from concentrating what you really want to be. Doing so is a sheer way of simply fulfilling the desire of greed to own this and that! And it is hardly, for everyone, to appreciate things that are gotten in this way as they are not that meaningful than the TRUE NEEDS that you know how meaningful they are to what you want to become, to what you want to succeed.
Tips:
Choose a plainbook that you are comfortable with and instantly name it "My Success Stories".
One of the easiest ways to think of what you want to become is to incur a habit, one by one, that you think that is beneficial to your success, to your life. For example, you want to have good time management. Then, write it out! Robin Sharma said "Writing something can deepen your commitment into 'that something'".
Next, think of what you NEED. It can be having a planner, to read a book on Time Management, or simply a disciplined mindset. Remember, what you NEED does not necessary to be a material. It can be in the form of thinking.
Well, it is very common to feel uncomfortable having a new habit always. But, please bear in mind that if you persist, what you want will also persist to get to you in reality. Some may say this is the Law of Attraction. Some philosophical physicists might say this is the effect of Newton's Third Law in non-physical sense. Whatever it is, the time that you adapt to this new habit will instantly come, normally in 1 month.
Next?
Have discipline in your own life. Be serious, but not stern to your life. Discipline is a promise to your success. Have faith in your discipline! The faith will make you motivated, thrust you forward to become what you want to be (with the aid of your NEEDS).
Also, it is strongly recommended to study successful people from all walks of life, from the past to present. Study about them, their lives, their hardships, their moments of turning point, their moments of joy, their contributions, etc. Then, list their characteristics you can figure out from them. One way to do it is to understand their quotations. Next, be reminded that you MUST NOT FOLLOW COMPLETELY their paths of life, as they had/have had their own lives, and so do you. You can never be the same person as they were or are. Everyone has distinct DNA codes. Instead, selectively choose the characteristics that are relevant to your future becomings. Why? Because these are your NEEDS to become what you want to be!
What if I like all of the characteristics?
Yes, you may have ALL of them. Yet, you may consider to think in this way:"I want to be like them, not for the sake of imitating their success, but I can do something different or even better than them if I possess the same characteristics."
